Restoring Victorian fireplaces, original stairwells and tiling vestibules, Warren French sensitively bought back the period features of this 18th Century house which had been neglected and ignored. Working from the ground up, we landscaped the large terrace with ceramic slab tiles, and designed a wooden slat balcony wrap around - set at the perfect height to take in the view of the Carrick River and Pendennis Point whist maintaining privacy for guests. The kitchen was rebuilt with an addition of a wood burning stove, as well as fixed shutters to the sea facing window and a cushioned window seat in Clarke and Clarke fabric. Perfect to sip coffee on while watching the gig rowers head out. We opened up the two front rooms into one large living space so the house can comfortably sleep six people - creating both a comfy lounge area with a velvet sofa and a more formal cocktail room with armchairs overlooking the bay. Dressed with Sanderson fabrics and local artwork on the walls; the room is a display of Victorian grandeur. The winding staircase was rebuilt using the original walnut handrail, and new stair runner laid, detailed with a dark edging which was completed for us using local sailmakers. The two luxury bedrooms are dressed with bespoke headboards designed by Warren French, and handmade by local upholsters on the south coast. We up cycled pine furniture using Laura Ashley colours and gold cup handles. The decorative fireplaces have been restored and tiled. The luxury bathroom suite has a regal feel, with rich warm blues and a heated Victorian tiled floor. The private attic space had a new dormer window fitted and deep blue feature walls against soft pinks and brass furnishings have created our clients dream master bedroom. From all structural works, full rewire, new roof and chimney stacks and interior design throughout, we have achieved a stunning townhouse restoration giving nod to its Victorian heritage. Fully booked from May 2022, the property is now taking bookings for 2023.
