Cottage
Invited to this renovation project in the beautiful corner of Coverack, Cornwall, Warren French created a contemporary, country, coastal cottage, with a warm, inviting and relaxed atmosphere. We were briefed for a space which feels light and airy in the summer months, as well as cosy in the Winter. Using a soft and neutral colour palette, and some subtle pops of colour, we made a beautiful home for our clients to enjoy with their family for years to come.
We used a warm colour palette consisting of pale tones of grey greens, greige, nutty neutrals and off-whites with coastal accent blues and greens to complement both the new oak herringbone flooring and pinwheel green tiled entrance. Contemporary greens and delicate touches of terracotta feature in soft furnishings and artwork, alongside the natural, reclaimed pieces we purchased.

Working with existing furniture pieces
We upholstered the living room sofa and armchairs, in natural fabrics decorated with patterned fabric cushions. The window treatments are light and airy on double brass poles. We added half-height horizontal panelling to both the primary and second bedroom, creating luxe feature walls with complimenting wallpapers. We have brass featured in the door hardware and light fittings –making a much more ornamented feel.
We designed a thoughtful lighting plan, adding sophisticated mood lighting with brass pendant lights, sconces and lamps with natural shades against the soft back drops.
We accessorised the cottage with reclaimed pieces such as a driftwood mantel, trailing plants and some colourful, coastal artwork. We added the illusion of alcoves in the living room with symmetrical brass edged mirrors to reflect the light, and added floating shelves decorated with neutral accessories, plants and books.
